On the night of 29 July 1990, approximately 600 unarmed civilians who had sought refuge at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Monrovia were slaughtered by the Armed Forces of Liberia. This massacre stands as one of the worst single atrocities of the First Liberian Civil War.
