We Survived to Change the Future

LUMASA represents survivors of the 1990 Lutheran Church Massacre. We stand for justice, remembrance, and peace in Liberia. Through advocacy, memorialization, and community support, we work to ensure the voices of survivors are heard.

Remembrance

From Tragedy to Purpose

LUMASA represents the survivors of the 1990 Lutheran Church Massacre — one of the most tragic chapters in Liberia’s modern history. Our community was born from loss, but continues to stand for hope, justice, and the collective memory of those who were silenced.

As survivors and family members of the victims, we carry the stories of hundreds who perished within the walls of the Lutheran Church on that fateful night in July 1990. We speak not only to remember, but to ensure that such atrocities never happen again.

Our work is guided by a shared belief that remembrance and truth are foundations for lasting peace. Through advocacy, education, and community action, we aim to keep the memory of our loved ones alive — transforming pain into purpose, and silence into voice.

Resilience

Every act of remembrance strengthens the path to justice.

LUMASA stands as a living testimony to the endurance of the human spirit.
Each candle lit, each story shared, and each life remembered brings Liberia closer to truth, healing, and peace.

Through remembrance, we transform grief into purpose — ensuring that those who were silenced are never forgotten, and that their memory continues to inspire justice for generations to come.
