LUMASA represents the survivors of the 1990 Lutheran Church Massacre — one of the most tragic chapters in Liberia’s modern history. Our community was born from loss, but continues to stand for hope, justice, and the collective memory of those who were silenced.
As survivors and family members of the victims, we carry the stories of hundreds who perished within the walls of the Lutheran Church on that fateful night in July 1990. We speak not only to remember, but to ensure that such atrocities never happen again.
Our work is guided by a shared belief that remembrance and truth are foundations for lasting peace. Through advocacy, education, and community action, we aim to keep the memory of our loved ones alive — transforming pain into purpose, and silence into voice.
